If you think, that you don't need any beginner's guides - be sure, you will not get full satisfaction from the gameplay, and, after some time, understand, that it is worth reading them all the same.
It is always difficult for a beginner to get comfortable with the game.. Eyes will start to run up: different modes of realism, tanks or aircraft, extensive technology research grid, no less extensive set of improvements, and even pumping crews, in which at first glance everything is not clear.
It would be nice to imagine in advance, what is what, and preferably, so that the introduction is not a wall of dull text.
Basic training and free golden eagles
All newcomers to War Thunder are invited to take training courses, like planes, and on tanks.
Many are eager to fight and skip these missions with a light hand, than deprive themselves of free golden eagles, which are given as a reward for completing tutorials.
Useful to useful
In addition, learning is not so useless, especially in tank mode, where it is difficult from the very first ride to understand all the possibilities of the game.
Yes and, for example, do you know how to turn on the bombsight and, the main thing, how to use it?
And what are high-explosive shells for??
This and that!
How to get training, if it is missing
As easy as pie. You need to click on your nickname, being in the hangar, and select the "training" section in the menu that appears.
All training missions will be available there., which can be launched at any time and get your legal golden eagles for completing them.
Which country to start playing for
Basically - which one you prefer. Many people choose the USSR, it's somehow closer, but other countries are no worse. Almost certainly, when you will often be destroyed by some specific unit of a particular country, e.g. German tigers, it will seem to you, that Germany has thicker armor and a longer muzzle, but this is a big mistake.
Let's think logically: most of them begin their acquaintance with War Thunder with the USSR, and having already gained experience decides to try others, Feels like cooler nations. As a result, it turns out, that much more experienced players ride on German tanks of even the lowest rank, than on the tanks of the USSR, which is chosen by almost all beginners.
However, the author of this Guide will venture to offer his subjective opinion about the best countries in War Thunder.
Country, whose tanks are cooler and duller
Germany! Or the USSR with the upgraded T-54 and KV. Don't want to waste 3-5 hours of play in the throes of hell, pumping passage tanks from the USSR for the sake of really good KV and T-shek?
Feel free to take Germany and play with pleasure from the very beginning.
Who has the most winged aircraft
The USSR! Don't be fooled by the agility of the British Spitfires, Japanese Ki and German Bf-ok, which, how will it seem to you, knock you down too often. It's still the same illusion - for the brit, Germans and Japs are played by experienced players, and the USSR is chosen by all newcomers.
Play as the USSR, swing in Yak 9-T, which shoots down any plane with 1 hitting, and play realistic battles - it's more interesting there.
In one battle on the Yak, the author managed to shoot down in realistic battles 7-10 aircraft, and this is almost half, and on some maps, almost the entire enemy team.
Tried the author and the Britt Spitfires - they swing left-right at high speed, because of what they become uncontrollable, they are shaken during firing and have weak weapons.
The author did not have time to personally evaluate the Japs and Germans - unfortunately, there is not so much time to play.
Which mode is better to play
Strange as it may seem, but it all depends on whether we are talking about tanks or aircraft, therefore the recommendations will be separate and detailed. Only that is conciliatory to all regimes, that in them you can earn a different amount of experience. In RB and Sat they are charged in 3 and c 6 times more experience and research points, than in the arcade.
Ground battles
In the ground, a lot depends on, the enemies on the screen are marked and whether their silhouettes in the bushes are highlighted. It's all there in arcade mode, and even more: they will help you to shoot too. Arcade has elevation guidance (how much higher the goal should be taken, to get) and in identifying weaknesses in armor (on hover, the chance of penetration is shown).
if you, as well as the author of the Guide, not to your liking, when you are held for a disabled person and, Also, you are marked on absolutely all enemies on the screen and on the minimap, then you really belong in realistic, and even better in simulator battles.
What is the difference between RB and SB in tanks
In RB, within reasonable limits, the marking of enemies on the screen and mini-map remains, all shooting assistants are off.
On Sat, enemies are only marked on the minimap, so you can apply any, but tactics, especially when playing with friends.
In addition, the view is available only "from the tower", and not from 3 faces with the ability to rotate the camera around the tank as they please. Well, and shooting without help too.
Aircraft
Arcade pleases with dynamism, there are a bunch of revivals, shooting assistance (is shown, where to shoot ahead, to hit the target), fantastic aircraft physics, inconsistent with reality. The dynamism and drive of the arcade forgives her this underrealism. Although experienced players contemptuously call it "rakada".
Realistic battles - then, what do you need. No shooting assistance, easy to shoot down with one successful shot, physics is realistic and harsh - even wings break off at too high a speed. Generally, mode suitable and worthy of attention.
Simulator battles
Radish mode, very hardcore. There is nothing to do in it without a good hotas joystick (this is when there is both a control handle and a thrust handle), besides, the view is only available from the cockpit and the enemies are not marked on the screen in any way, so you naturally have to look closely (and constantly confuse planes and spots on the monitor :D).
If you are a beginner, in sb it will probably be possible to knock someone down only after a couple of days of training.
Crew leveling
Many newbies get lost, seeing the abundance of different crew skills.
Then, what skills need to be downloaded, depends on the mode, so the guide will be in two parts.
Tanks
First of all, you need to download the reload speed of the loader. Points, needed to fully pump this skill, already talking, how important is this skill.
The second most important is the survivability of the driver, gunner and loader. Your fighting efficiency depends on it.. Find yourself with a dead or unconscious driver under the fire of an enemy tank - consider it already to lose.
Field repairs next in importance, which must be pumped by all crew members. The speed of repair depends on the skill. You won't go far with a killed caterpillar, and when you are about to be eaten, repair speed is very important.
The tank commander has the "leadership" skill - it also needs to be pumped up a little, since it gives a bonus to the skills of all crew members.
Aircraft
First of all, pump your vigilance point-blank. Buy some skill points for free golden eagles and be sure to upgrade at least one crew.
With this skill, you will see enemies in realistic battles at a very long distance even earlier., than they are you (enemies will be marked with red icons, when the pilot notices).
The next most important skill is repair on the ground. It also needs to be pumped point-blank, to be repaired at the airport in seconds 20-30.
Then you can already pump accuracy and survivability..
Love bombers? Be sure to rock the precision of the airborne shooters, so that the clever people who have sat down on the tail are shaved off quickly and without unnecessary noise.
Qualification
Applied to both aircrews, and tanks. Upon reaching a certain number of skill points, the crew can improve their skills in managing one or another aircraft / tank. First qualification "expert", for example, gives by +50 points to some of the most important skills.
How to profitably spend your starting Golden Eagles
If you read somewhere, that you need to buy some premium plane or tank for the starting golden eagles, be sure to tell the person, who said it, that he is not smart.
Premium account
Starting golden eagles, which you can get through training, you need to spend wisely: play realistic battles and buy a premium account for a day on those days, when you have the opportunity to devote a lot of time to the game. Daily premium costs only 10 golden eagles, and playing RB or Sat brings more experience and research points anyway. With a premium account, leveling and researching new vehicles will go even faster.
Crew boost
To play not only interesting, but also nice - spend some Eagles to buy crew points and distribute them, using this crew leveling guide. This way you will have at least one tank / plane, which will be good to see, hear and fight. It will help you a lot in battle., especially on airplanes.
Fan camouflages for tanks / aircraft and instructions for installing them
With one of the patches, about summer 2014 of the year, War Thunder added the ability to change camouflages, and to be more precise - vehicle skins in War Thunder. Craftsmen among the players immediately rushed to restore the planes of the famous ace pilots and just make unusual skins of tanks and planes.
Where to download camouflages
The best place to find interesting camouflages is the official War Thunder forum.
The camouflage section is located at this address., where everyone shares their creations with the game's community: http://live.warthunder.com/feed/camouflages/
How to install custom camouflages
1.Selecting the desired tank / plane in the hangar, right-click on it and open the "appearance". Click "Create a test case of a custom camouflage"
2.Find the automatically created folder with camouflage files in the War Thunder / UserSkins / folder
3.Paste the downloaded or hand-drawn skin into this folder, after which we select it in the game
4.The name of template_p-51d-5 is so-so, let's face it. To change it, you just need to rename the folder with the skin to the desired name, then in the game we disable and re-enable the custom camouflage
5.To add another skin, we repeat the algorithm from the very beginning.: add test camouflage, drop the skin file there and change the folder name, if you don't like abra-kadabra or want to add more skins for this tank / plane model
Joystick Guide
By and large, this cannot be called a guide - rather, it is a small note from the author, who tried playing with a joystick and was disappointed.
If you want to play with Joey, only play simulator mode.
Unfortunately, in arcade and realistic battles it is very difficult to compete with players, flying with mouse and keyboard in simplified control mode.
While when controlling the joystick, it will be very difficult for you to aim the sight even at a target flying in a straight line, mouse control automatic: that is, you point the point with the mouse, where should the plane be looking at, and the automatic pilot uses all the maneuvering abilities of the aircraft, to quickly change course.
In life, such a well-coordinated control of all the "turn signals" of an aircraft at once is impossible., which you can easily check, by connecting a joystick.
Thus, you will almost always lose to an opponent with a mouse., but it will be difficult to shoot you down, because you can twist enemies with ease, by simply pulling the joystick towards you.
What a beast HOTAS joystick
It stands for simply: hands on the rod and joystick. Hotas-joy consists of two parts - the pull handle and, actually, standard joystick for yaw control, let's go, the pitch and shooting of the aircraft.
Such a joystick usually stands on 1-2 thousands more expensive than the standard budget Logitech extreme 3D pro, but it's definitely worth it!
On the traction handle block, a few more buttons are usually placed for opening the chassis., flaps and stuff.
What joysticks are supported in War Thunder
First, check out the official game store, where joysticks are sold and much more, and at regular prices, but with a bonus in the form of packs of equipment or golden eagles
Secondly, the game is not only, what most joysticks support, so it already has settings for each of them, which the game will offer to apply when the device is connected.
Thirdly, there is a list of officially supported game controllers here
